Palindromic sequences generated from marked morphisms

چکیده
Fixed points u = φ(u) of marked and primitive morphisms φ over arbitrary alphabet are considered. We show that if u is palindromic, i.e., its language contains infinitely many palindromes, then some power of φ has a conjugate in class P. This class was introduced by Hof, Knill and Simon (1995) in order to study palindromic morphic words. Our definitions of marked and well-marked morphisms are more general than the ones previously used by Frid (1999) or Tan (2007). As any morphism with an aperiodic fixed point over a binary alphabet is marked, our result generalizes the result of Tan. Labbé (2014) demonstrated that already over a ternary alphabet the property of morphisms to be marked is important for the validity of our theorem. The main tool used in our proof is the description of bispecial factors in fixed points of morphisms provided by Klouda (2012).

We study the palindrome complexity of infinite sequences on finite alphabets, i.e., the number of palindromic factors (blocks) of given length occurring in a given sequence. We survey the known results and obtain new results for some sequences, in particular for Rote sequences and for fixed points of primitive morphisms of constant length belonging to “class P” of Hof-Knill-Simon. We also give ...

متن کاملCorrelation Between GC-content and Palindromes in Randomly Generated Sequences and Viral Genomes
GC-content, the ratio of guanine and cytosine bases in an entire nucleotide sequence, and palindromic sequences are unique for every organism due to genomic evolution. The goals of our research was to establish a correlation between GC-content and palindromic densities in wild-type viral and randomly-generated genomes. Forty viral genomes were downloaded from GenBank and their GC-ratios and pal...
متن کاملToroidalization of locally toroidal morphisms of 3-folds
A toroidalization of a dominant morphism $varphi: Xto Y$ of algebraic varieties over a field of characteristic zero is a toroidal lifting of $varphi$ obtained by performing sequences of blow ups of nonsingular subvarieties above $X$ and $Y$. We give a proof of toroidalization of locally toroidal morphisms of 3-folds.
متن کاملMorphisms, Symbolic sequences, and their Standard Forms
Morphisms are homomorphisms under the concatenation operation of the set of words over a finite set. Changing the elements of the finite set does not essentially change the morphism. We propose a way to select a unique representing member out of all these morphisms. This has applications to the classification of the shift dynamical systems generated by morphisms. In a similar way, we propose th...
